James doesn’t realize that some people pray to give thanks for things like good food; he probably hasn’t had many opportunities in his life to give thanks…
Even if junk food isn’t good for someone, they may still like it. From that, we can assume that they may be grateful for the chance to enjoy it, and are giving thanks.
dlkrueger33The Abrahamic religions all do. It is just that most follow the admonition not to practice religion for the approval of the public, which probably explains why you don’t see it.

Do people say grace anymore? I haven’t seen anyone do it in decades. But I don’t live in the Bible Belt.

Grace at James’s house probably consists of someone saying “Oh Lord, are we having THIS again?”

Yes . . .we still say grace at meals. . .even for fast food. . . just because we’re thankful for God’s provisions, whatever form they take.

There’s nothing wrong with thanking God for the blessings He gives us, and food is one of those blessings. James may learn something here.

JPuzzleWhizI have had enough of those who insist on a particular liturgy, but I don’t think that qualifies as a prayer.
