In one scene in The Sound of Music, the real Maria Von Trapp can be seen in the background, walking across the screen with one of her grandchildren (the child of one of the children in the movie).
The real Von Trapps didn’t cross the Alps on foot while running from Nazis. They simply boarded a train and got lost in the crowd. That probably wouldn’t have won any Oscars, though.
There have been plenty of musical families (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Family_musical_groups), but the Trapp Family Singers did it first.
