The Katzies should win a prize for being the most-often imitated strip ever. And when I say imitated, I don’t mean a strong influence. No, I mean a direct copy of the characters and scenarios, down to the last detail. It’s pretty strange, actually, that people thought they could get away with it. But they actually did succeed at it! Strange. As for Carl’s comment, I don’t think that anything is automatically “not funny” because of its age. People still laugh at Shakespeare’s comedies, and some ancient Greek comedies too. The Katzies is one of my very favourite strips! Are you reacting to changed social standards? You’re not down with cartoon violence and abuse? The Katzies are similar to some of Chaplin’s comedy — so exaggerated that it becomes burlesque. Besides, most people deserve to be beaten once in a while!
