I love hawks and hate mices to pieces.

Owls are good at eating mices, too.

I remember a stunned friend—and she would have been about 50!—demanding that I clarify for her: “You mean BIRDS. Eat BIRDS.” Uh, yes, they do. She’d thought all raptors survive on the rodent population only. The reason pigeons multiply year round is to be meat factories for their predators.

And, sparrows usually have 3 batches of babies. The jay will pull them out of the nest, eat the heart. It is sad. We have many bird houses and feeders. Nature can be cruel.
