A week ago Saturday I was out with our dog Maggie—Husky/Lab mix. She had just pooped and I had bagged it and was walking across the pavement of our parking lot heading to the main entrance of our building. I should have realized it but Maggie had circled around my legs and so the leash was wrapped around me. Another tenant came by with his dog and Maggie suddenly tried to bolt towards the other dog. That move took the legs out from under me and I fell backwards and struck the back of my head on the pavement. I went down hard. It had been so sudden that in a blink of an eye I was flat down on the ground. I could not get up and lay there until an ambulance showed up from another town—all the ambulances were busy in my town. Concussion. I am feeling better and I am thankful that it was not a severe concussion. But gee did it hurt going down. I learned a lesson that I must always be on my guard especially when we encounter another dog. It was not an aggressive lunge—she wanted to play with the other dog. I should have been attentive to the fact that she had gone around me and that the leash had been wrapped around my legs. I do not imagine that I am the only one that this has happened to. I hope not but i doubt it. It takes so little to have an accident. Take care all.
