My husband and I were on the deck today plucking petunia deadheads. It was pleasant and breezy. As we sat, along came the tiniest, most beautiful little winged creature I’ve ever seen, mining the petunias for…whatever tiny little creatures mine petunias for. It had four transparent wings and was fluorescent green and purple like some hummingbirds. It was so small it could disappear into the petunia. The amazing thing was it was completely unaffected by the breeze. I think it must have been so small the wind couldn’t catch it. it would hover outside a flower as if checking it out, then disappear inside and reappear a minute or so later, fly off and return for more mining. Things you see when you sit still and watch the world for a while!
