Bird: well, there is this finch. verne: Atticus? bird: I don't know his name, but he's always giving me the side eye at the bird feeder.

Believe it or not, only today it hits me that the family in TKAM had the name of a bird! (In my defense, English is my second language.)

The mockingbirds never come to my feeder, they just flit around in the background. The finches fight constantly to be at the top perch, even when the food is all down at the bottom perches—they want to be top dog.
