Been in this house more than 25 with the same tree outside the front window the whole time. This morning, a bright very sunny morning with the sun coming up behind the tree, I noticed the tree was dripping which was very odd because everything else was completely dry. We have had bizarre water problems in this house so I asked my husband why the tree was dripping. He immediately went outside to check. Came back a few minutes rubbing his fingers together. He said the tree was dripping sap — it’s a maple — and while it didn’t smell sweet it was sticky when he rubbed his fingers together. I have never seen it do that before and was entranced to watch the drops – heavier than water so they formed beautiful jewels in the sunlight before dropping off. Happy spring, trees all!
