I try to look outside the echo chamber sometimes. I rarely find it enlightening.

Origin of “Pirate Talk” in the 1950’s Walt Disney Studios did their version of Treasure Island and the actor Robert Newton played Long John Silver the Pirate. Newton was born the southwest corner of England and chose to give Long John Silver an exaggerated “West Country” accent. Note, this was actually historically accurate since a lot of men from that part of England became sailors or fishermen. Disney’s Treasure Island was so popular that Newton went on to make sequels called The Adventures o Long John Silver and also played Blackbeard the Pirate in another movie.
