The “poop” quote I remember best was from a villainous lady in “Thoroughly Modern Millie” — near the end, as she was running away, a heroic lady threw a bolo and she was completely wrapped up in it, immobilized just as she was crossing a bridge. With her legs wrapped together she was unable to keep her balance and began to tip over the side of the bridge toward the water, and she was unable to do a thing about it but to blurt out one indignant, “Oh…. POOP!” I think that was an edited-for-TV version that replaced a cruder scatological term, but if so, I still think this is the funnier version.

Total linguistic originality is going to be hard. A lot of people have said a lot of memorable things.

Only one person ever said this (thank goodness): “And just remember, what you’re seeing and what you’re reading is not what’s happening.”
