A young friend came to me all upset because her classmates had pointedly not-invited her to a birthday party. She went into detail about how rude and horrid they have been to her of late. I asked her, if they are so unpleasant, why would you want to spend time with them? She hadn’t thought of that.
When I was in 6th grade, a little girl came up to me and shouted “you’re weird!” I just looked her in the eye and said “thank you.” I think she was really expecting me to be hurt or angry or something, so she didn’t know what to say to that. She just stared at me.
Mr. Brown is impressive so impressive his enemies are at a loss as to what to do to humiliate him since he just humiliated them for their nasty natures. He agreed with them. The worst insult in their eyes.

That awkward moment where your pride is so dismal that they can’t even shame you for it… it’s kind of fun.

It’s interesting to do this because people expect you to fight against their insult. When you agree with them it drives them crazy!

And I would have declined the invite.

“And that nastiness you just displayed is why NO ONE remembers seeing either of you past 1970!” … if Charlie Brown knew that then..

It’s too bad Charlie couldn’t do more stuff like that in his later comics.

To paraphrase Groucho Marx: I refuse to be a member of any club that would have someone like me as a member.

One of the best ways to derail verbal bullies is to compliment them on their efforts.

That’s okay, Violet and Patty. Charlie Brown will have his own party with hookers and black jack. In fact, forget the party (Bender of “Futurama”).

In a Peanuts personality test I was Charles Brown.
