This probably inspired a Yogi Bear cartoon in which a little baby called a skunk, porcupine, and mountain lion “kitty.”

“Kitty” may not take very kindly to the new nickname! :D

When I was a baby, my divorced grandfather was living with us. For reasons I do not know, I was his favorite grandchild, even though I was his daughter’s 6th child. He had cancer, and the prognosis wasn’t good (he died on 10/1/65, one week before my first birthday). He wanted to hear me say “Mama” before he died. One day my mother had taken the older kids to her mother’s house to go swimming. My grandfather called and told her to come home quick. Thinking something was wrong with either him or me (I wasn’t a healthy baby), she bundled up the kids and got them home. As she walked in, he was beaming: “She said ‘Mama’!” And there I was, sitting on the floor, saying “Mama,”…pointing at HIM!

Boy, is Snoopy ever going to be mad now.
