I saw this in my own kids. Often, it took so long to set the scene, find the props, and plan the backstory, that it was dinnertime! I think the fun is in the prep time.
Herd of crocodiles. That’s where they first lost me. I did have to look it up because I though a group of crocodiles might be called a pack since that seems to be more the name for large predators in groups (although lions are prides). But crocs are a bask, a congregation, or a float. Then they lost me when Patty wanted someone to write this down (I never heard of anyone writing down rules for imagination when playing). And then the tigers in Africa, are they escaping from a zoo in like Cario or Johanusburg or someplace on the continent? There not native to Africa after all. But then I guess I should give the herd and tiger’s in Africa a pass as I wouldn’t have known either at their age. But writing down the “rules” for imaginary play?

Those were the times when children played with old Lady Fantasy .

Children’s imagination is what breeds innovation and invention in later life, I hope that is not lost in today’s kids!

As Joshua once said, “How about a nice game of chess?”

They had me at the part where Charlie said “but we shoot our way out with bazookas.”

I wanted to go to Africa when I was a kid. Then someone mentioned that Africa has some very large spiders. I started having second thoughts about it.

“Is anyone writing this down?” was funnier than the punchline.

I like how there’s a mini punchline in the top row. Seems like another feature that Watterson borrowed in ‘Calvin & Hobbes’.

A million foot? A cliff in outer space? Another 161,600 feet higher and you’re right where the International Space Station is.

CB implies he is older than Shermy and Patty, but Shermy is oldest.

I sadly have to wonder if there are any children left, that have anything that resembles a real imagination, now.
