"Go ahead...Jump!" Charlie Brown urges Lucy. He sits on the ground. She stands on a tree stump in front og him, holding an open umbrella over her head. "I'm scared!" she confesses. Snoopy watches them curiously.<BR><BR> He stands up and explains, "There's nothing to be scared of, Lucy...You've got that umbrella to help you..." "That's true..." she concedes. "Do you think I'll bounce?"<BR><BR> She adds, "Instead of jumping I think I'll close my eyes and just step off."<BR><BR> "?" Snoopy is puzzled as Lucy puts one foot forward into the air, ready to place it down on Snoopy's nose.<BR><BR> "I did it! I'm floating in the air! I'm floating in the air!!" Lucy exclaims. She stands on Snoopy's head.<BR><BR> "I'm going to do that again..." she adds as she puts one foot back on the tree stump. "Just think...I was floating in the air!"<BR><BR> "You'd probably be better off if you quit right now." Charlie Brown suggests, as he watches Snoopy stalk off out of the corner of his eye. "Are you crazy? I'm a success! With this umbrella I can float in the air!!" Lucy exclaims.<BR><BR> "This is getting out of hand...I think I'll leave, too..." Charlie Brwon starts to turn away. "Here I go again!" Lucy says, sticking out one foot.<BR><BR> THUMP Charlie Brown turns his back and shudders.<BR><BR> "I'm glad I didn't see that..." Charlie Brown decides as he walks away.<BR><BR>
Even though she is not far off of the ground, if Lucy steps into midair with her toe pointed, she could shatter her ankle when she will crash with all of her weight on her pointed toe. That could force her ankle to twist until it breaks. She could be in a cast for a month. The damage to the cartilage in her ankle could cause the ankle to wear out decades prematurely.
