Peanuts by Charles Schulz for October 07, 1954
Transcript:
Lucy approaches Charlie Brown in the field with a sandwich held in her outstretched hand. She asks, "Do you want half of my bread an' butter, Charlie Brown?"

She says, "You might as well take half."

She tears it and says, "I don't think I can eat it all..."

He looks down at the crust of the bread in his hand. She adds, "Besides, I can't stand crusts!"

I could never figure out why some kids (and adults) are wimps about breadcrusts.
