Charlie Brown comes upon another camper crying quietly.<BR><BR> Charlie Brown says, "Excuse me but I couldn't help overhearing you crying . . . What's the matter?"<BR><BR> The camper stands up and says, "I don't know . . . I guess I'm just lonesome . . ."<BR><BR> Charlie Brown sticks out his hand and says, "Friend!!"<BR><BR>
This is the first appearance of Roy, a kid Charlie Brown met at summer camp. The two share similar character traits, being lonely and upset. Having things in common, the two become friends. Roy would appear in another summer camp story the following year. This time, he gets acquainted with Linus. Roy would later hang around Peppermint Patty’s neighborhood.
