Lucy sits on the floor and looks at an encyclopedia. Snoopy watches. Lucy says, "Don't just sit there . . . Help me with my homework . . . Go get me volume five of the encyclopedia . . ."<BR><BR> Snoopy walks and thinks, "Volume five?"<BR><BR> Snoopy stands in front of a book shelf.<BR><BR> Snoopy walks and balances the encyclopedia on his nose.<BR><BR> Lucy holds the book and says, "This isn't volume five, this is volume seven! Can't you tell volume five from volume seven? How can you be so dumb?!"<BR><BR> Snoopy walks back and balances the book on his head.<BR><BR> Snoopy stands in front of the book shelf and licks the books.<BR><BR> Snoopy thinks, "They all taste alike to me!"<BR><BR>

Apparently Snoopy doesn’t know his numbers, if he brought Lucy the wrong volume.

Was this Peanuts strip the inspiration for the one line in the one 1970s Sesame Street cartoon, Numbers 1 to 20, where the zero drill sergeant asks of 9, (who pretends he’s 11),“You idiot! Can’t you tell a 9 from an 11?” Makes sense, anyway.
