Peppermint Patty sits at her desk, studying. She says, "Wow!"<BR><BR> In profile, she says, "There are ten millimeters in one centimeter...one hundred centimeters in one meter and one thousand meters in one kilometer..."<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty throws up her hands and wails: "I can't remember all that! What are they trying to do to us?!"<BR><BR> Marcie is walking with Peppermint Patty, who says, "I just got inches and feet figured, Marcie,..now, they throw metrics at us! I'll go crazy!" Marcie says, "You'll catch on before you know it, Sir..."<BR><BR> "Somebody's always trying to change things!" Peppermint Patty complains.<BR><BR> They stop walking and look at one another. Peppermint Patty continues, "It's those people on the school board! They always get carried away..."<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty throws out her arms: "Give them a millimeter and they take a kilometer!" Marcie cheers: "See? You're catching on, Sir!"<BR><BR>
It’s a LOT easier than remembering there are 12 inches in a foot and 5280 feet in a mile…
