She says, "Sorry about my math paper, ma'am."<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty continues, "On my way to school this morning, I sort of dropped it in the mud."<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty says, "Maybe you can kind of brush it off a bit with your sleeve . . Wanna try it?"<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty holds a dirty piece of paper and says, "I guess not."<BR><BR>
If this cartoon had ever happened to be featured in any Peanuts TV specials, the teacher’s "honk"noise, in response to Patty’s question,“Wanna try to brush it off with your sleeve?” would have been interpreted as,“Does THIS answer your question?” as she(the teacher)would have handed Patty back her math paper. Those "honks"on the Peanuts specials, representing the adults’ dialogue, were HILARIOUS.
