Charlie Brown stands on the pitcher's mound and says, "That's a beautiful new glove, Lucy."<BR><BR> Lucy stands in the outfield and says, "Thank you . . How long do you think a glove like this will last?"<BR><BR> Lucy holds her glove out. The ball flies over Lucy's head and hits the ground.<BR><BR> Charlie Brown shouts, "About a hundred years!"<BR><BR>
This begins the story arc in which Charlie Brown is admitted to the hospital for a mysterious illness. Schulz never revealed what ailed Charlie Brown. Some of these strips were adapted into the 1990 TV special “Why, Charlie Brown, Why?”
