While visiting a friend who was convalescing, I noticed the staff accessing a stairway off limits to others by pressing a button above the door frame.

If you feel inferior, you probably are.

When you summoned to anyone who is in greater authority than you, you do feel inferior because you don;t know what to expect.

There is a lot of truth in today’s strip. We tend to forget what it’s like to be a child where tabletops are above your head, stairs are nearly hip high and you are living in a world designed for Titans. Not to mention co-existing with Goliaths called “grown ups.” Yes somehow we navigate it and take it all in stride.

I never saw the Principle, when I didn’t know exactly why! It usually wasn’t on the positive side.

“Maybe he wants me to manage the school ball team.” Her brief stab at optimism is touching.

There was no childhood obesity epidemic way back then, of course, but I suppose you could look at it like this: having the door knob up high enough to require jumping is merely a matter of encouraging exercise!

Apparently, Admiral Rickover sawed off a couple of inches from the front legs of the chair opposite his desk. That way, when underlings came to report to him, they would lose their composure trying to keep their composure while sliding off the chair! Nasty!

We have some meeting room chairs that would better fit Peppermint Patty than adults… If you get stuck with one, you end up not wanting to say anything at all!

If the door knob is that high it should be easier to kick him in the shins…And run for it!…..

I went to the principals office a lot. That wasn’t the scary thing, the scary thing was having to call my dad at work. Didn’t mean I didn’t go to the office. About half the time it was about academics, i.e. failure to do homework. The other half the time it was about lunch money. Come to think of it, I was more scared about the lunch money than being yelled at about my homework.
