When I was in school, we had a pretty loose dress code, but I remember a couple thickheaded kids my age actually wanted uniforms. One of them went on to join the Coast Guard.

He’s still in it, but apparently, he’s NOT doing well.

I hate school dress codes. The kids already don’t want to be there…why make it worse for them by not letting them wear what they want?

School dress codes often prevent distractions and injuries. Open-toed shoes, for example, are unsafe. Most work environments have a dress code. The school is not going to dictate what students wear on their own time - that’s up to kids and their parents. And kids still get a lot of freedom to wear what they want within the dress code. Dress codes may be an inconvenience but they are not evil.

Way back when when I was in JR. High, mid ’60s, the powers that be banned both the Granny Dress and the Mini Skirt. All the boys voted to keep the mini skirt. ;-)

Patty’s sandals need an extra strap over the top of the foot by the toes. They would never work drawn as they are. Just an observation of mine ; )

When I was in HS, the powers banned wearing shorts. Due to the popularity of “Daisy Dukes” (yeah, I’m that old). I can see the reasoning now, but it was really upsetting back then. I did enjoy the girls in the Daisys.

The dress code at my work is not so bad. It’s black work trousers and black shoes. But we can wear any top we want. Although I prefer plain tops instead of patterned.

Some people need to accept that when they are in school or at work. They can’t just do what they want.

I never attended anything that had a dress code. My Parents handled that particular requirement. Hence, I never experienced being asked to leave any Venue due to improper attire, now I may have offended by other means, but I was well dressed when that happened!

I had a dress code all the way up until High School, but then it was just about anything goes: Daisy Dukes and halters were common. I think that was just about the only thing I liked about HS.
