Is “chicks” considered offensive nowadays?

Ah snoopy is older and wiser for his age. Sadly snoopy will probably be gone by the time Linus is ready to chase chicks.

I wondered how the slang would translate in Snoopy en Español. In the last panel Snoopy says (in Spanish), “I thought you said ducks.” The joke in this instance is that Linus said “palos” (“sticks”) and Snoopy misheard it as “patos” (“ducks”).
