"If we're ever gonna have world peace, we're gonna have to find a few basic principles we can all agree on." "That's a very mature thing for you to say, Rat. What kind of principle do you think we could all agree on?" "That guys who wear their collar up should all be punched in the head." "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh Lord..." "Hey... what's a little violence when your goal is world peace?" "We should go home now, dear."
The boarders at my high school wore their collars up, the day boys (like me) wore them down. In my fifties I once met a guy who’d been at the same school a few years before me. I asked if the collar thing had already been a thing in his day.
In great excitement he yelled, “Tell my wife! Tell my wife!” He had been a boarder at the school, and carried on the collar-up habit into adult life. He couldn’t stand the feeling of having it down, despite his wife’s persistent efforts at making him put it down.
