Nancy: Mom, dad... We have to talk... When you are watching my kids. You cannot let them ride their bikes around the block unsupervised... It's irresponsible and you wouldn't have done that with me when i was a kid. Grandpa: When you were a kid, we let you fly by yourself to pittsburgh. Nancy: How am I even alive?! Grandpa: The truth is we didn't even know you were gone. Grandma: Oh, what a summer that was.
When I look back, compared to how “child proofed” the world is today, I am amazed that I got to what passes for adulthood in one piece. No child seat or seatbelts, no bicycle helmet, no outlet covers, no locks on cabinets, etc., etc. My parents must have been criminal to not have all of that protection for me.
