Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for January 13, 2015
Transcript:
Marigold: Unique orns do not like "standardized" tests. "Standardized" is the very ANTITHESIS of "unique." It is therefore a badge of honor in the unique orn community to do as poorly on standardized tests as possible. Phoebe: That's not really how it works with humans. Marigold: Yes, and I suppose you will not punch the answer bubbles with your horn.
I feel like I should have something insightful to say about this, but I donât. Itâs a thing, we will all get used to it.
I suppose itâs different for me because Iâve known for a year that this was coming, and even before that, from the moment I pitched the title âHeavenly Nostrils,â my editor said âwe can launch it online under that name, but marketing will probably insist we change it before the print launch.â At the time I was just tired of trying to name my strip, which longtime fans will remember began life as a strip called âGirlâ that didnât even contain a unicorn.
It is what it is! As I noted on twitter, the book is called âPhoebe and Her Unicornâ too, and has done rather well.
