Memory is a strange thing. It seems like the more you need to remember something, the easier it is to forget. Which is why I still have a memory of… dang, I just had a reason to remember it and the effect kicked in.
I remember Marigold commenting once that she remembered when some mountains nearby to where Phoebe lives were still being shaped by an ancient glacier, implied to have existed in the area some thousands (or more) years ago.
So if there’s any truth to Marigold’s claims here, that would suggest unicorns got iPads a few millennia before humanity did.
More likely, I think Marigold’s just not taking Phoebe’s question seriously here.
I remember the rustling of the leaves of our tree, the call of a hawk, the sour musty smell of the oak leaves of our nest, and the rich smell of mommy next to me, and the sweet smell of my sibling next to me.

Does this mean that unicorns have been more technically-advanced than humans in the past?

For my earliest memories, I have a poor sense of chronology. Maybe that’s happening with Marigold as well.
