Teach him to knit! Pirates and sailors were excellent knitters (virgin wool sweaters keep you warm even when you’re soaked through) I read that even samurai warriors took it up to maintain the bindings of their armor. So knitting isn’t for wimps.

I prefer crocheting to knitting. But I understand where Opal’s daughter is coming from. I was the same way about playing the piano, when I had an opportunity to learn I declined and I’ve always regretted it.

There was a football player from the ’70s-’80s Steelers who used to knit. No one thought him any less of a man. (No, I don’t knit, crochet, etc. The mere sight of a needle makes me cringe!)

Thanks, Char! I could picture him, but couldn’t place a name to his face…CRS

FYI - Rosie Grier did macrame and needlepoint; don’t know if he knitted. He also subdued Sirhan Sirhan after he shot Bobby Kennedy.

Your Trivia of the Day ;-)
