I can’t believe that after all the time they’ve been together, Earl doesn’t know the washer from the dryer.

What is so intimidating about throwing clothes into the washing machine? It’s not as though she has a washboard and has to go to a stream.

I throw a load in and return to the computer. Takes about 5 minutes, if that.

Most washer/dryers are labeled and have instructions inside the lid. At least, that’s true of all the one’s I’ve seen.

That is true, however the new ones are front loaders and the washer, and dryer can look the same to someone who has never seen the front loaders.

Amen sugie63 !!! When my mother died, my father didn’t know how to use the washer or dryer…No clue on the dish washer… and believe it or not, didn’t know how he took his coffee. My mother fixed it every morning for him.

Earl is smart enough to ask Opal that silly question about how to operate the washer/dryer. LOLs!

I am a man and know how to operate the washer/dryer easily. I know how to sort my dirty clothes into different groups. I always put the white socks, underwears and t-shirts in the washer with hot water, laundry detergent and bleach. For dark colored clothes, put them in washer with cold water and laundry detergent. That is soooooooo easy to do that job. Do the same thing with the dryer, too! :-) Salute!

I taught my kids how to wash when they got older and told them that is their job now. My husband when he retired he started doing the washing. Wildmustang depends on the detergent for cold water. I tried that with cheer and it was horiable powered clumped up and would not disolve. Colors will bleed anyway so I use warm water. Have dry clothes in heat to make them dry and hopefully no wrinkles yes I use a softner.

I tried the ignorant trip yesterday. No go. However, every time I try to fold the “wrong way” I not only get help, I get pushed away. I’m a very slow learner I did learn “This is how the Marines do it.” loses every time to “This is how my mother showed me”

@Vegas Viper….I’m laughing because you just reminded me of the time I went to visit my brother-in-law…His wife(my sister) was out of town and he asked ME how to make a tuna fish sandwich…I just looked at him and did the old ‘eye-roll’…..

Kab Buch, Really! Interesting! I never put the colored clothes in the washer with hot or warm water; otherwise, the dyed from colored clothes bled and ruined other clothes. Also, the cold water save the energy. I used to buy Cheer laundry detergent for my washer but sometime, that Cheer laundry detergent built up too much bubbles while the washer washed my clothes. I just poured it a little bit and let it work on while the washer runs/operates. Sometimes I accidentally put one pair of white socks or few of them in with colored clothes and let the washer washed with hot water. After the washer finished washing, I opened and picked them up and put them in the dryer. I noticed the white socks got bled from colored clothes. I forgot to turn the knob between hot - warm - cold, I noticed the knob pointed at HOT instead of COLD. Oh no! I put the white socks back in the washer and washed it with bleach in hot water and it came out white perfectly. Sheeshh!

The man can teach us young lads a thing or two about NOT doing the laundry.

This doesn’t seem at all like Opal.

Maybe, Opal and Earl is a second marriage! Or maybe, a third!

If everbody went “green”, we’d all be doing our laundry in cold water. EZ!

I read an article on the internet recently that said most laundry detergent packages recommend at least twice the amount really needed for cleaning. I tried using only half the soap and everything is as clean as ever.

Especially true with a overachieving water softener. Not just clothes washer, dish washer as well.

andymeijers, exactly. Of course the manufacturers want to sell double the amount of detergent and such.

I normally do the washing at my house, husband takes care of washing the floors. Good deal for both of us. He does wash his sports clothes though - not because I insisted on it but just to be nice :þ
