Some dreams are totally unrealistic. I think it’s great that Earl considers himself lucky to be where he is. Nelson is being exposed to the wisdom of his elders. Will he remember it or have to re-learn it for himself?
I have the life of an engineer that I engineered as a young man. I just wish I had the gumption to go after another life, an artist. But now I’m too used to a nice home and nice car and food to go do the starving artist thing. Bottom line is (IMO), everyone should be able to go after a second career after about age 40-45, without loss of the gains they’ve made so far. But life wants you to take risks to get those benefits.

More senseless babbling from Earl today.

No, it’s true, it’s just very deep. We end up living the life we deserve, not necessarily the one we planned.

If not, we can always resign. But don’t tell anyone why.

Lucky, or did the dream chase you?

Yeah, we can always resign to spend more time with our families, like the career criminal politicians do when they’re about to get caught!

Earl wanted Sophia Loren, but he had to settle for Opal instead.

I wanted to be an opera singer, but ended up a choir singer with three kids. Some dreams take more ability than you have.
