I’m jealous…where I live to get a decent sofa you can actually lie down on without ruining it (or your back), you have to pay upwards of a thousand bucks. Needless to say, I have no sofa. I do have a recliner that I bought with a windfall…cost me half that. Excessive? You betcha! Do I use it? Every day!
Carly Simon recorded the song “Anticipation”, released in 1972. Someone sold the rights to make a commercial. As I remember, the song was playing behind a closeup of ketchup s l o w l y coming out of the bottle.
People who don’t nap, have no concept of how beneficial it is.For centuries, may civilizations embraced the concept of the siesta or afternoon nap. Not only is it beneficial but is really part of our DNA.In college, the military, and in my high stress career, I was a huge proponent of “power naps” – those nourishing and enriching 15 to 30 minutes of sleep that reinvigorate and rejuvenate. Now, semi-retired, I still nap for approximately 30 min. in the late afternoon, or early evening. I’ve never been a great couch “potato” like Andy Capp or my Irish grandfather, nor a bed “bug” like my Dad. I prefer the recliner chair and have spent many blissful hours in Lazy Boys and Barco-Loungers. In fact, overt the years, I have probably slept more hours in an easy chair than a bed.

Andy Capp & Dagwood Bumpstead should follow Earl Pickles’ example of preparation for naps.
