Shut up, it’s a flight if say it is.

Oh to be that young again! There are days when I see it just as Earl does —

He’ll never climb the Washington Monument.

I used to laugh at Tim Conway on the Carrol Bernett show when he played an old man moving slow all hunched over…….. well now I are one!

Well Earl that is what happens when you are a couch potatoe ! You have feet not roots, use the feet !

At school long ago, I usually disdained the elevator and went up 7 flights of stairs two at a time. Coming down I used a quick rhythm like shallow rope jumping. If I tried that now … About all I can do now is admire young people doing what I once did, for the seeming sheer joy of it, like young springboks.

I know how you feel Earl. Osteo-arthritis in the knees does that to you.

Oh, feel his pain!

Any number can lead to flight if you trip going down.

Some days just getting the feet off the floor one at a time can be a challenge. I didn’t know how bad I was until I tried to show my granddaughter how to skip. The whole family got a big laugh out of that!

A step, a flight, it’s all a matter of perspective. Sometimes, my get-up-and-go got up and went.

You mean there are other old men with my pain? And here I was thinking no one understood what it’s like.

Llewellenbruce: Nor will anyone else. The paranoids closed it as a “security” measure (marble stairs can be padded). It was a great trip, especially if one took time to look at the memorial blocks built into the interior wall, some of which have full relief sculpting.

I’ve started referring to them as a fright of stairs!
