Gosh dangit, Earl! You’re much too old to be building silly forts with that fart of a “grandson”, Nelson. We know he’s adopted. How about you explain to him what fortnight means! This is the only way he won’t end up poor like you.

Earl you rascal. If you don’t change the furnace filter, Opal will have to do it. She doesn’t know how to do it. What if she puts roscoe in the furnace instead? quit making forts and fix silly!

Earl is starting to remind me of my husband; the procrastination part.

Every one seems to be echoing the same answer. What difference does it make if it is 14 days, 14 nights or two weeks? It’s all the same.

Our first homework exercise in Chemistry in college was unit conversion: calculate the speed of light in Furlongs per fortnight. (1.8 trillion)

Awww! What’s more important: a boring household chore or spending time with your grandson? For the record, though, I find it odd that Earl would use the term ‘fortnight.’ It’s primarily in use in Britain.

If Earl was a specific kind of guy he would have said “I’ll do it in 14 days”

An electrical engineering professor complained we mechanical engineering types figured speed of light in furlongs per fortnight..I responded,“186,281.7 miles per second times eight furlongs per mile times 3600 seconds per hour times 24 hours per day times14 days per fortnight. What’s the problem??”

When I was dumb enough to work we had the option of working a “nine-day-fortnight” — five day workweek, two-day weekend, four day workweek, three-day weekend, repeat.
