I thought pluggers were broke. How do they afford that?

Maybe I’m a frugal Yankee (not to be confused with that overpaid baseball team), but in the winter I turn the heat up to 68 when we have company. Why else did I get all those sweaters for Christmas. An extra blanket is much cheaper than #2 oil. Wonder how many blankets Al Gore uses in that over sized house?

Lewreader - That’s why I’m glad we put in a geo-thermal system when we built our house. The weather here in KS can be quite extreme (below 0F and above 100F), but with that system, I can keep the house comfortable all year long, and not have high utility bills.

When I was growing up, my grandparents had a plaque hanging on the wall - a thermometer mounted on a lacquered piece of wood on which was printed the following poem:

“As a rule A man’s a fool When it’s hot he wants it cool When it’s cool he wants it hot What it is, he wants it not”

State by state, maybe, within a reasonable radius. Now, if you’re planning a trip to Disneyland…

In the winter it’s 68 in the day and 64 at night. In the summer 72 or 74 all day. New heat pump this year - we’ll see if it actually lowers the energy bills….

I could never figure out why 75° feels hot in the summer and cold in the winter. At least to us California wimps.

My dad put up a dummy thermostat on the wall, while the real one was hidden where only he knew where it was.
