I expect “itisme” shops at the local wholefood / macrobiotic store. I would, but I can’t afford it. People eat what their parents gave them as kids and told them it was healthy (burgers, beans, fries etc).
I refuse to eat what my mother fed me (brains, heart etc) but I would never dream of telling anyone else what to eat unless thay asked.
Amazing how my grandparents never worried about all this stuff, and the overwhelming majority lived past 90 years of age.
I read an article by a doctor once who said more people are in the hospital and an early grave because of worry than all the other problems combined. The stress of worrying about everything (not to mention striving with others) instead of just enjoying life will do your health enormous harm.
Remember Jim Fixx? Wrote health books, ate proper all his life, jogged five miles a day, was real lean and dropped dead of a heart attack at 52. I know a fellow like that myself, real healthy guy…and had a stroke while exercising at the gym. All the doctors could say is strokes run in his family.
There’s got to be a lot more to it than just what a person eats.
Actually, the stroke victim I spoke of is a fellow I’ve known for over fifteen years, and he’s a thin, active, high-exercise fellow who’s been a health food advocate as long as I’ve known him.
He’s really into biclycling, and often rides 35 miles or more a day just for exercise, which I think is pretty cool.
And for the record he’s a uber-liberal Democrat, and for the most part, a laid back kind of guy, doesn’t stress as much as most folk.
Yet he had a stroke while running on the running machine in the gym, and all the doctor could tell him was, “Well, strokes run in your family.” He did all the right health stuff his whole life, and yet had a stroke. And the doctors don’t know why.
There is A LOT about health and medicine humankind just does not know, even in today’s high-tech culture. Cases like this prove diet and exercise (while very good for you, I am not advocated bad health habits) are not the magic bullet that will solve all health ills.
