I have an elderly friend who has a gerontologist. Last time she went to an appt. she was told Dr. X was at a conference, and she would be seeing Dr. Y. This really upset her, as she’d never seen Dr. Y and would have to go through a long explanation about her problem. Why can’t the office call a patient, in cases like this, so the patient can opt to make another appointment rather than drag themselves in to talk with a substitute?
