When we lived in Tallahassee, there was a restaurant(BBQ)on the west side, I think it was on the Pensacola Highway, that when you walked in the door, you heard a pig ‘Oink’! That was the best BBQ I had tasted in a long while. Unfortunately, when I drove out that direction, the last time I was in ‘Tally’ , it was gone ! ! ! !

Dave Anderson no longer owns Famous Dave’s, and a recent visit proves the new owners don’t have a clue how to run the joint…

Just north of Ozark, AL, on 231 was a BBQ joint on the west side of the road. Wasn’t much to look at, more a shack than a restaurant. They had, hands down, the most succulent, tender, moist, mouth watering piggy imaginable!!! Don’t remember the name and in the intervening 46 years of eating BBQ, I have never tasted anything better. Some have come close, but . . .

I worked at a chain restaurant (which I will not name for fear of getting sued)…I was told that when we saw a cockroach “don’t look at it, and draw the customer’s attention to it. Kill it when they leave.” The ethnic place behind us had the exterminators out on a regular basis. Where there’s food…there’s bugs and vermin. What? You think you can keep them away?

You want fresh. Look for the pork smoke.

Exterminators need to eat too….Besides, if even the bugs and rats won’t eat there, would you really want to?
