One of my duties as a grocery store employee: clean up spills.
One of my seldom duties is to help shoppers bag their groceries. One time, I was on the closing shift and put some shoppers’ few groceries into one paper bag. A few yards after leaving the cashier, CRASH! There goes their liquor on the floor. Time to get out the mop bucket.
One of the advantages of reusable bags is that they are much sturdier so no more torn handles or messes to clean up. I particularly like the folding kind. Great for canned goods, cereal boxes, and snack bags. The only problem is they are also really great for school books, gym clothes, overnights, etc. Mine kept ‘disappearing’, so I ended up getting everyone in the family their own bag for Christmas.
May have been true a while ago, but with today’s grocery prices, you almost need to take out a short term loan before going because you are going to drop a bundle at the checkout counter. Definitely need to know your debit card balance ahead of time if using one of those.
Too many people let the market be a dark mystery. In the long term, it pretty much always goes up (if you’re not in Russia or China). A total market index, with the lowest expenses, is basically a savings account.
Is this supposed to be funny? It’s sad that people would leave a public place messed up like that. This cartoon seems a bit dark. I would offer to help clean it up, although it’s tempting to leave a mess on purpose if the employees are rude or evil. None-the-less

I see people walking around shopping with no cart or basket. Two arms full of stuff. Looking for a place to drop everything?
