Yeah, too bad spoiling the grandkids isn’t tax deductible somehow. Unfortunately it doesn’t get back at your parents for the spoiling they did to your kids.
I believe you could claim grandchildren as dependents, IF you can prove to the IRS that you contribute more than 50% of the cost of supporting them and their well-being, i.e… actual receipts for the cost of housing, clothing, school / daycare, healthcare, etc.
I asked once if I could claim the expenses of my horses. They said no, of course because I don’t HAVE to have horses. So I said “Well, one doesn’t HAVE to have kids, either, so… Wha-at?”. Didn’t fly but I had to ask.

Sadly, I know a number of people who have raised their grandchildren. A lot of responsibility goes with that deduction.

I have always declared there are few more dangerous persons than a grandma in the kids store with a credit card. Look out grandkids!
