Pooch Cafe by Paul Gilligan for June 23, 2010
Transcript:
Poncho: I guess we should choose names for ourselves to keep things straight. Puppy: How should we do that? Poncho: Our name should be a reflection of who we really are. Puppy: Well, I feel like I will take easily to training, although I do have some feelings of inadequacy about my intelligence level. I'm comfortable being a follower, and I have a sunny disposition. Poncho: You have a blotch on your face. Your name will be "Blotch."

Sheik Yerbouti Have you ever read the Harvard Lampoon’s “novelization” of Animal House? In the story, there was a very different reason for the name Pinto. It was due to the result of a childhood accident involving hot tar on a very sensitive part of his anatomy. Said area was left “spotted”.

By his own reckoning, Poncho should call himself “Ego.” (Or is it “Igo”?)

O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo? What’s in a name? That which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet. So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call’d, Retain that dear perfection which he owes Without that title.
Sorry, Juliet. If Romeo were “Blotch”, you would think him a Blotch and nothing more.
(Besides, you don’t “call a rose”, you “calla lily”! HAW!)

I think Poncho got his name because he sounds like the side-kick in the old TV series the Cico Kid….Maybe?
