There’s a lot of urban myths out there about dogs eating aluminum lawn furniture along with the wood patio itself. Wouldn’t doubt it after doing some house hunting last year. Saw one place where the dog ate through the the bathroom door jam, through the wall and into the hallway.
My parents had a golden retriever that would disagree with Poncho. When he was a puppy he ate several shoes, a cell phone, and 60 (yes, sixty) Christmas light bulbs. The big outdoor type. He pulled three strings of 20 off the patio railing and chewed them all up. There were pieces of wire and the little brass bases of the bulbs everywhere, and of course glass. And blood. He cut his gums to ribbons. Miraculously, he suffered no long term effects…

He’s been taking lessons from Satchel on Get Fuzzy.

The shoe is certainly edible to a dog, so I’d say Poncho is batting .333.
