When people are free to pursue their own self-interest, that IS the public good. But most people have been propagandized to think self-interest means cheating, lying, stealing, driving the wrong way on one-way streets, and pushing old ladies off the sidewalk into traffic. REAL self-interest requires respecting everyone’s rights in order to protect your own.

So, Nighty, exactly how much should everyone be paid? Are you suggesting people should be paid more than they are worth? Worse yet, more than the equivalent of what they produce? That’s not pay, that’s charity. As for moving off-shore, look in your closet and see if you have any clothing less than 20 years old “Made in USA”. Probably not. If your clothes were still made here, you would likely complain about the high cost. As for car alarms and snow blowers, you’ll just have to suffer while others pursue their values, not yours.

No, Night is constantly complaining that he has trouble finding employment. I can’t imagine why. He must be a real joy to be around.
