If you want to take money out of politics, take away the power of politicians to reward cronies, punish enemies, control others, and choose winners and losers.
We need to make voting universally mandatory, design districts only by geographical and population guidelines, schedule voting days on weekends or make it a mandatory paid holiday and publicly financial all elections, overseen by an independent commission. Then you would start to make a difference in the corruption of the process.

If I win a large amount in the lottery, I hope I can become one of those donors. What would I want in exchange? I would at least ask for help boosting my small business. What else? Ambassadorship or some local ceremonial post that would allow me to rub elbows with the power-elite.
