Being able to paint your foe as being less than a fully functional, moral human being, justifies hatred, and eventually facilitates willingness to do them harm. Just read some of these comments to see how readily that is done.
We can guess what the main difference is. Hillary R. Clinton was elected and not contradicted by the Electoral College. And he is going to paint her as a female version of Trump.
