Lack of hope led to the Trump phenomenon. People believing the only way to get their fair share is to deny someone else theirs. It all leads back to Rupert Murdoch, and the Republican toadies of the rich. The most brilliant thing the robber barons did was hire ad agencies instead of thugs.
So if she at least starts to believe the glass exists at all, she is becoming more of an optimist (not to be confused with becoming more of an optometrist…)
