You do realize Doonsbury has been a syndicated strip for almost 52 years? By now these people are friends and family.

There are few things that sound more horrible than everlasting bliss.

Actually it was much worse. It was style and substance I was referring to, i.e. language, depth of reporting, length and number of articles, etc. Yes, it was a different time and they were writing to a different audience. Comparisons across time do not lend themselves well to short discussions.

Sigh, a free news source on the internet, a drastically shortened attention span in the populous, television with its emphasis on videos to feed our desire for “drama” and a polarized public that depends on confirmation bias, all contributed. No single thing did it, and to be honest, it’s been going on for a long, long time. Read the newspapers from the 1800s when that was THE source of news and you will see the vast difference in style and content.

Hmmm, Medicare seems to work pretty well. So does Social Security as long as Congress doesn’t steal it’s money.

If I were to say that to my wife, she would laugh. Whether it’s our age (senior citizens), the fact we trust each other completely or that we are both honest that looking at an attractive person of the opposite sex is a normal part of being human, neither of us take offence at the other admiring beauty.

Come on folks. It’s getting harder to be weird. In my youth, 40+ years ago, my tattoos, long hair, beard and ear ring were cutting edge for weird. Now, everybody wears them. The fact that man buns gets a reaction means they do what they’re intended.

Walking is hardly boring, unless you lack the ability to think. I get up in the morning, drink a large cup of coffee, do a quick scan of the important news items and then take an hour walk. The time allows me to digest the news, go over the book I was reading the day before, listen to the sounds of the world waking up, clear the cobwebs and dream remnants, plan my day, relive memories, and find peace. Hardly a waste of time.

Why, pray tell, was Ludwig not curled up on her lap in the first place?

Thank you!! Perfectly said. Obviously I read women differently than those who call her a “cold fish”.
