   You obviously don’t live in Michigan, specifically the Metro Detroit area. Every fire and police department in the tri-county area is facing lay-offs, departments becoming PSO, and budgets that are making equipment maintenance and upgrading a thing of the past. And have you ever tried to subsist on what a private ambulance company pays EMT’s? I have! That’s why I got out of the biz. And by the way, the politics of city firefighting is very complex. You don’t simply go and apply to another city and expect to get in. This story line, is VERY realistic. Ask my ex-husband, who was an officer with his department when they cut 15 firefighters from the budget. He is now working for a water treatment plant.

   What? That’s totally sound, logical advice. My therapist should be that clear, I’d be willing to pay her more!
