   In Seattle (back in the 80s), if the sun peeked out during the gloom of winter, you’d find young teens in heavy sweatshirts and shorts. My mom used to say “well, no sense – no feeling.”

   There is a shortage of blood supplies all over the US. Just like people donate food during the holidays; donating blood can be an important topic to bring up anywhere. Also, For Better or Worse tackled tough topics too.

   I can relate. Working full time and moving. Ick. It is a great time to purge all that stuff that hasn’t been used or opened in years! The military taught me this. :)

   I often do laugh or make dark jokes (more the latter). I blame the Army for “teaching” me that.

   My uncle signed up while his Japanese American family was interned at Minidoka. He passed a few years ago (14 years older than my dad) and we found out that he was one of the first Japanese Americans to become a warrant officer, and that he worked for public affairs as a translator, for both Japanese AND Korean! I asked my cousins about this, and they had no idea what their dad did. He retired in 1984 as a CWO4 (highest rank that he could go back then). He didn’t like to talk about his career. Now that I’m a veteran, I wonder what he did that he didn’t want to talk about. Happy Veterans Day to all my fellow DD 214 Alumni! And thank you for your service!
