Wow, lots of overreaction. o.O Bible quotes and whatnot are allowed in school, heck, a court ruling ensured that religious clubs are allowed too. Only thing that’s not allowed is the school actually pushing any of it (i.e., teachers can’t teach it) which makes sense, since there will be people of many religions or none there.
Anyway, I was going to come here to point out that one could replace that yoke with a tie and it would still make sense lol.
Yeah, but I looked up the odds, and they’re listed worse than 600000:1 for poker, but around 200000:1 for crib. I’m not sure exactly what the difference is. It might be those poker odds are for 5-card stud, which would definitely make it harder than crib (where you can discard 2 unneeded cards). I would expect that texas hold’em would have equal odds though (best 5 of 7 cards, just like 2-player crib).
To clarify for our non-cribbage players, 29 is the highest hand you can score. It requires you to have three 5’s in your hand and a jack, and the other 5 has to be the top card on the deck. Moreover, your jack has to be the same suit as the flipped over 5 (or you only get 28). Suffice it to say, very rare hand, though I think it’s not quite as rare as the royal straight flush (depending, of course, on the style of poker).
Had to look up new math myself. Improving the way math is taught in high schools is a good idea; trying to feed them university level stuff is a terrible one.
