I think Inukshuk is stoking the Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas brouhaha.

Ken in Ohio is right. Multiple story lines, even more villains, cross overs to other strips….Poor Gould. If only he had done these things, what a legend he could have been. And it’s surely easier than coming up with new characters every three or four months.

Any kid can tell you there’s a difference in a hot tub, swimming pool, or lake—and a bath. All that scrubbing—and soap!

If only Chester Gould had thought to juggle dozens of villains and story lines at the same time. His strip might have become really popular. And with no story really ending it could have run for years.

Snuffy Smith runs daily in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. And Barney Google does sometimes appear. But that’s no excuse for letting B B Eyes and the rest run riot. What’s next—chasing Krazy Kat?

Anyone have a running tally on the number of story lines still open?

What happened to Velma, Luby, Plushie, and Dr. Raptor? Maybe they could substitute for a few days.

The story-telling is rather odd. Lead-ins are lengthy and detailed. The “showdown” or confrontation with the villain is comparatively brief, and the denouement nonexistent. Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy the strip again after a long while, but it is unusual and leaves a lot of obvious questions unanswered.
